Parents anxious to make sure their kids are happy and occupied during March Break have begun registering this week for Hudson’s host of Spring Break activities.
The Hudson Parks & Recreation Department says its Spring Fever activities will run from March 1 to March 5 at the Stephen F. Shaar Community Centre, the Hudson Youth Centre, école Saint-Thomas and the Hudson Legion.
The week will include an All-Sports Day where participants from 7-14 years old will explore team sports with an emphasis on cooperation and fair play.
Staff from Le Nichoir Bird Rehabilitation Centre will also be on hand to present a seminar on birds indigenous to the area, as well as a birdhouse painting project.
Other highlights will include bingo, soap making classes, a video movie day, a visit by animators for animal based Éducazoo, a Rock Band & Guitar Hero video game tournament for teens, and a curling game “extravaganza” for junior players.
In addition, budding babysitters will be able to sign-up for a St-John’s Ambulance Babysitting Course, taking place on March 5 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Hudson Youth Centre. The course will include a manual and a certificate upon completion. Participants must be 11 years old by the day of the course.
Spring Fever Activities will conclude March 5 with a concert taking place from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. featuring local teen bands.
Registration, on a first come first served basis, began this week and will run until Feb. 26. To register, or for more information, call the Hudson Parks & Recreation staff at 450 458-6699. Information flyers are also available at the Stephen F. Shaar Community Centre in Hudson.
