Pincourt’s Boating Day, taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 21, is part of the town’s ongoing 50th Anniversary celebration. During the day, participants will have the chance to try some of the canoes, kayaks or rabaskas that are now available at an improved water access park located near Bellevue Park.
And this Saturday only use of the non motorized vehicles will be free.
The event, organized by the town’s 50th Anniversary of Pincourt Committee, will also include free hot-dogs and freezies, courtesy of the Presbyterian Church of L'Île-Perrot.
In 2008, the city announced a $500,000 improvement project at Bellevue Park despite protests from some residents who were unhappy with the plan to close off a portion of chemin Duhamel, a waterfront access road.
The town used a $200,000 grant from the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal to pay for a portion of the project.
Pincourt officials said the move was necessary in order to improve public access to the beach and to give back some missing green space in the area. Other planned improvements at Bellevue Park included updating playground equipment, adding a pedestrian path bypassing the park, as well as a 900-metre cycling path.
