The Vaudreuil-Soulanges heath and social services agency is offering free a series of workshops aimed at helping those in their golden years stay active and healthy while living at home.
The program, which will focus on preventing falls in the home, a leading cause of injury among seniors, is open to people 65 years or older and who still live in their homes.
Registration will conclude on August 30 for a 12 week program scheduled to get underway on September 7, and organizers say spaces are limited.
The courses consist of strengthening and group exercises, as well as exercises that can be done at home. Conditioning will focus on strengthening leg muscles, improving equilibrium and on bone heath.
Courses, which will run each Tuesday and Thursday, will be held at the Vaudreuil-Dorion CLSC, located at 490, boulevard Harwood in Vaudreuil-Dorion. For information or to register, call physiotherapist Fanny Hébert at 450 451-5329, ext. 312.
