Courage! Help is At Hand for Harried Parents
Vaudreuil-Soulanges CLSC targets child discipline
Finally there’s help for inexperienced parents who have had to grit their teeth and ignore the stares and rude comments from other patrons while their toddler throws a fit at the check-out counter.
The Vaudreuil-Soulanges health and social services centre is holding an information meeting for parents, introducing them to the good old fashioned art of discipline. The session, given in English by counsellor Julie Taillefer, targets children aged 2 to 5. This particular lecture will focus on fostering independence in the child, and targets effective ways of curbing inappropriate behaviour.
Demand for lectures is very high
The “Soirees CLSC” is a series of lectures given throughout the year with the aim of supporting parents of children from babyhood to the age of 18. Some of the topics include teen suicide prevention, baby vaccinations and cessation of breastfeeding. One of the upcoming meetings is designed especially for fathers. For the moment they are offered in French only. The information meeting on child discipline will be held on Wednesday, February 20th from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. It will take place at the Ida Latour room at the CLSC Vaudreuil-Dorion located at 490 Harwood Blvd in Vaudreuil-Dorion.
Due to the expected high response, parents are asked to register as soon as possible. Spaces are limited. Tel: 450 455-0507 ext: 313. For best results leave the toddlers at home with the babysitter; you don’t want them to outsmart you once again!
